    How to use it

    1. Type a word or a phrase of at least two letters.
    2. Press Search. Matching verses appear with the book, chapter and verse.
    3. Open a result to read it in the chapter.

    What the search covers

The text is the World English Bible, a public-domain translation. A search matches the letters you type, in either case, and a phrase matches with its spaces and its punctuation. Acts is listed under its usual short name, and the link still opens the Acts chapter.

Each result links to the chapter page for that book, with the verse marked. The Bible loads when you search, so the first search takes a moment and later searches use the copy already in the tab. A few verse numbers in this edition have no sentence; search returns the verses that have words.

    Questions

    Which translation is this?

The World English Bible, which is in the public domain.

    Can I search a phrase?

Yes. Type the words in order, including a comma or an apostrophe when you want that exact phrase. Capital letters and small letters match the same way.

    Where does a result go?

To the chapter on this site, at the verse. John 3:16 opens John chapter 3 at verse 16.

Why might a verse number have no words?

This edition leaves a few verse numbers blank, where some other editions print a sentence. Search lists the verses that contain words, and the chapter link uses the verse number from the edition.

    When does the text download?

On the first search. After that, further searches run on the copy in the tab.
