The formula
Future value is principal times (1 + rate/n)^(n × years), where n is the number of compounds per year. Daily uses 365. The interest line is the future value minus what you started with.
Deposits you add later are not included. The rate is constant. Tax on the interest is not taken out.

Questions
Does monthly compounding pay more than yearly?
At the same annual rate, more frequent compounding grows the balance faster. The page shows that difference.
Is the rate already divided by 12?
No. Type the annual rate. The page divides it.
Can the amount be zero?
Yes. The future value is then zero.
