How to use it

  2. Set the daily and weekly overtime thresholds and which rule to pay.
  3. Read the total, the overtime and the pay if you entered a rate.

Shifts, breaks and overtime

A day with a blank start and end is a day off. If the end is earlier than the start, the shift runs past midnight and the hours stay on the day it began. The break is subtracted from that span. Daily overtime is the time past the daily threshold, added across the week. Weekly overtime is the time past the weekly threshold.

Pay can follow the weekly rule, the daily rule, or whichever of those two is greater. Regular hours are the total minus the overtime you chose to pay. Pay is regular hours times the rate, plus overtime hours times the rate times the multiple, which starts at 1.5. Download the CSV or print the week.

Questions

How does an overnight shift count?

A start of 22:00 and an end of 06:00 is eight hours on the day you entered the start. A 30 minute break leaves 7 hours 30 minutes.

How is overtime chosen?

Weekly pays the time past the weekly threshold, 40 hours unless you change it. Daily pays the sum of each day’s time past the daily threshold. Greater pays the larger of those two.

What does a zero threshold do?

A daily threshold of 0 turns daily overtime off. A weekly threshold of 0 turns weekly overtime off. The other rule still applies if you selected it.

How does the break come off?

Break minutes are subtracted from that day’s shift. A break as long as the shift is rejected so a typo does not wipe the day.

Can I print or save the week?
