Rate, purity, making charges and GST
The gold value uses the rate you type. When that rate is for 24K and the piece is 22K, 22K is 22 parts in 24, so the gram is priced at 22/24 of the rate. Wastage, when you enter it, increases the grams you are charged for before the rate is applied. Making charges are a percentage of that gold value, an amount per gram of the charged weight, or a flat amount.
GST is 3% of the gold value, the making charges and any stone or other amount you add. That is the rate for articles of jewellery under heading 7113 in Schedule IV of CBIC Notification No. 9/2025-Integrated Tax (Rate), dated 17 September 2025, in force from 22 September 2025. A supply to another state is 3% IGST. A supply in the same state splits that 3% into 1.5% CGST and 1.5% SGST. The page prices a finished piece the jeweller supplies.

Questions
Does the page look up today's gold rate?
You type the rate per gram from your quote or invoice. The total uses that rate.
How is 22K taken from a 24K rate?
22K is 22 parts gold in 24, so the rate is multiplied by 22/24. Choose “the purity of the piece” when the quote is already for the karat you are buying.
Where do making charges and wastage go?
Wastage adds to the weight. Making charges are then a percentage of the gold value, a rate per gram, or a flat amount. GST at 3% applies to the gold value, the making charges and the other charges together.
Why is GST 3%?
Heading 7113, articles of jewellery of precious metal, is in Schedule IV of Notification No. 9/2025-Integrated Tax (Rate), at 3%, from 22 September 2025. The page was checked on 27 October 2026.
What about work on gold I already own?
This page prices a finished piece under heading 7113, with making charges inside that 3% value. A jeweller who only works on gold you already handed over can be billing a different kind of supply, so use their invoice for that case.
