How to use it

  1. Choose pixels to cm, a length to pixels, an image, or a print size.
  2. Pick 72, 96, 150, 300, 600 or a custom DPI.
  3. Read inches, centimetres and millimetres, or the pixel width and height.

DPI is the bridge

Inches equal pixels divided by DPI. Centimetres equal inches times 2.54, and millimetres equal inches times 25.4. The reverse multiplies inches by the DPI and rounds to the nearest pixel. 300 pixels at 300 DPI is exactly 1 inch, 2.54 cm.

96 DPI is a common screen figure, so a 1920 × 1080 image is 20 × 11.25 inches, 50.8 × 28.58 cm. 300 DPI is a common print figure. An A4 page, 21 × 29.7 cm, is about 2480 × 3508 pixels at 300 DPI. The custom DPI covers a printer or a phone screen that publishes a different number.
