"The dimensions of one or more screenshots are wrong": how to fix it
"The dimensions of one or more screenshots are wrong" means the file's pixel size isn't one Apple accepts for the slot you dropped it into. Resize it to an accepted size and upload it again: you can resize your screenshot to an accepted size in your browser. If the size is already right, check the file for an alpha channel (transparency) too.
What the error means
App Store Connect checks every screenshot against a short list of exact pixel sizes for each display slot, such as "iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display)" or "iPad 13-inch display". Apple publishes the list on its Screenshot specifications page. A file that is one pixel off, cropped by a design tool, or exported at the wrong scale doesn't match, and App Store Connect rejects it with this message instead of resizing it for you.
The check is per slot. A 1320 × 2868 screenshot is right for the large iPhone slot but wrong in the iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display) slot, so the same file can pass in one place and fail in another.
Fix it in 3 steps
- Check the size. Drop the files on the checker on App Store screenshot sizes. It reads each file's pixel size and alpha channel in your browser and tells you which slot, if any, accepts it.
- Resize. Resize your screenshot to an accepted size: pick the sizes you need, choose fit, fill or pad, and download a ZIP. Every file is saved without an alpha channel.
- Re-upload. Upload each file to the slot it was made for, in the orientation you exported.
Accepted sizes for the slot you're uploading to
The sizes Apple accepts for the slots most uploads go to, portrait first. Landscape is the same pair swapped. Every slot, including Apple TV, Vision Pro and Watch, is on App Store screenshot sizes.
| Slot | Accepted sizes (portrait, px) |
|---|---|
| iPhone Duo | outer 1398 × 2034, inner 2007 × 2853 |
| iPhone with Dynamic Island, large display | 1260 × 2736, 1290 × 2796, 1320 × 2868 |
| iPhone with Dynamic Island, medium display | 1179 × 2556, 1206 × 2622 |
| iPhone with Face ID, large display | 1284 × 2778, 1242 × 2688 |
| iPhone with Face ID, medium display | 1170 × 2532, 1125 × 2436, 1080 × 2340 |
| iPhone with Home Button, large display | 1242 × 2208 |
| iPad 13-inch display | 2064 × 2752, 2048 × 2732 |
| iPad 11-inch display | 1488 × 2266, 1668 × 2420, 1668 × 2388, 1640 × 2360 |
| Mac | landscape only: 1280 × 800, 1440 × 900, 2560 × 1600, 2880 × 1800 |
Apple requires at least one iPhone set, in the iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display) slot (1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556), and a 13-inch iPad set if the app runs on iPad. Sizes as listed by Apple, checked 1 Nov 2026.
In-app purchase and subscription screenshots
An in-app purchase has its own Review Information screenshot, which is only shown to App Review. Apple's In-App Purchase information page doesn't give it a separate size. It says the screenshot should meet any of the screenshot specifications your app supports. So the fix is the same: use one of the accepted sizes in the table, for a device your app runs on.
The optional promotional image for an in-app purchase is different, and Apple does give its size: 1024 × 1024 px, JPG or PNG, 72 dpi, RGB, flattened, with no rounded corners. Apple's subscription help pages don't list a separate review-screenshot size either, so treat a subscription's review screenshot the same way.
App Review information screenshots
The App Review Information section of a version (sign-in details, contact and notes for the reviewer) has no screenshot field in Apple's documentation, and Apple publishes no size for one. If you see the error while preparing a version for review, it comes from a screenshot slot on the version page or from an in-app purchase's review screenshot. Check those against the sizes above. This page doesn't guess at a size Apple hasn't published.
If App Store Connect says "You must upload a screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display)"
App Store Connect shows an error like this when it wants a screenshot in that slot; Apple's help pages don't publish the exact wording. It points at the one iPhone set Apple's Screenshot specifications page lists as required: at least one screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display). To clear it, upload at least one 1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556 screenshot (2622 × 1206 or 2556 × 1179 in landscape) to that slot. You can resize your screenshot to an accepted size from a larger capture. The slot's devices and fallback rules are on iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display) screenshot size.
Other causes
- Transparency or an alpha channel. Apple's specifications don't allow transparency. A PNG with an alpha channel can be refused even at the right size. Export it flattened, or let the resizer remove the alpha channel.
- Wrong orientation. Each slot accepts specific portrait and landscape sizes, so a file cropped to some other shape matches neither. Our tip, not an Apple rule: keeping one orientation across a set makes the product page look consistent.
- Wrong format. Only .png, .jpg and .jpeg are accepted. HEIC, WebP and PDF files are refused.
- More than 10 files. Each slot takes 1 to 10 screenshots. The eleventh is refused.
Questions
Why does App Store Connect say the dimensions of one or more screenshots are wrong?
At least one file's pixel size isn't on Apple's list for the slot you uploaded it to. Resize it to an accepted size for that slot, such as 1206 × 2622 for the iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display) slot, and upload it again.
My screenshot is the right size. Why is it still rejected?
Check for an alpha channel or transparency, which Apple doesn't allow, and for the format: only PNG and JPEG are accepted. Also check that the file is exactly one of the slot's portrait or landscape sizes.
What size is an in-app purchase review screenshot?
Apple doesn't publish a separate size. Its In-App Purchase information page says the review screenshot should meet any of the screenshot specifications your app supports, so use an accepted size for a device your app runs on.
Does Apple resize screenshots for me?
Apple can scale your largest set down to fill some smaller slots, but it won't resize a file you upload to a slot. That file has to be one of the slot's accepted sizes.
Can I fix the size without uploading my screenshots anywhere?
Yes. The screenshot resizer on this site resizes the image in your browser tab and downloads a ZIP. Its code doesn't upload the image.
