App Store screenshot sizes (and a size checker)

Every screenshot size App Store Connect accepts, which ones are required, and a checker that reads your image files in the browser and tells you which slot each fits.

Drop screenshots here or choose files. They are read in this tab; this tool's code doesn't upload them.

Add PNG or JPEG files to see which App Store slot each one fits.

    What you have to upload

App Store Connect takes one to ten screenshots per display size, as .png, .jpg or .jpeg, and the images can't contain an alpha channel or transparency. Apple's specification page (checked 25 Oct 2026) names two required sets: at least one iPhone screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display), 1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556 pixels in portrait, and, if the app runs on iPad, at least one for the 13-inch iPad, 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732. Mac, Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro and Apple Watch apps each need their own set. Every other row in the table is optional.

How scaling fills the other slots

If your interface looks the same on every size, Apple says you only need screenshots for the highest required resolution, and App Store Connect scales them down for the other device sizes. Each row's note shows where its scaled images come from; the iPhone chain runs Dynamic Island (large) to Face ID (large) to Dynamic Island (medium) and down to the Home Button sizes. Before you submit, open the media manager in App Store Connect and check which sizes show as scaled. Upload a set for a smaller size only when that layout really differs, for example a home-button iPhone with no Dynamic Island, or when you want different screenshots for one localisation.

    Why an upload gets rejected

    • Wrong pixel size. App Store Connect checks exact dimensions. A 1290 × 2796 export from a design tool at 3x of 430 × 932 points is fine; a resized 1300 × 2800 isn't. The checker names the nearest accepted size when yours doesn't fit.
    • Transparency. PNG exports from Figma, Sketch or Keynote often keep an alpha channel even when every pixel is opaque. The checker reads the PNG header for an alpha channel or tRNS chunk. Export as JPEG, or flatten the PNG onto a background.
    • Orientation. Mac, Apple TV and Vision Pro sizes are landscape only and Watch sizes are portrait only. The old 4-inch and 3.5-inch iPhone sizes and the 9.7-inch iPad have separate sizes without the status bar.
    • Format. Only .png, .jpg and .jpeg are accepted, so HEIC and WebP exports have to be converted first. The checker flags files that are not PNG or JPEG.

    Screenshots versus device sizes

The pixel sizes here are App Store slots, not screen specifications: several iPhones share one slot, and a new model can join a slot without a new size. For the screens themselves in points, scale and pixels, use the iPhone screen sizes table. Write the text that goes next to the screenshots with the App Store character counter, and make the icon with the app icon generator.

    Questions

Which screenshot sizes are required in 2026?

Apple's page lists one required iPhone set, iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display) at 1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556 pixels, plus a 13-inch iPad set (2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732) if the app runs on iPad. Mac, Apple TV, Vision Pro and Watch apps need their own sets.

Can I upload only the 6.9-inch set?

Apple's notes describe a fallback chain: the medium Dynamic Island slot uses scaled Face ID (large) screenshots, and those use scaled Dynamic Island (large) screenshots, the 6.9-inch size. App Store Connect shows which slots it fills by scaling; check that the required slot is covered before you submit, and upload a medium set if it isn't.

What format and colour space should screenshots be?

PNG or JPEG (.png, .jpg, .jpeg) with no alpha channel or transparency, at an exact accepted size. Apple's specification page doesn't name a colour profile; exporting in sRGB is the safe choice.

How many screenshots can I add per localisation?

At least one and up to ten per display size. Each localisation can have its own set, or you can keep one set for every language.

What sizes are app preview videos?

App previews are optional, 15 to 30 seconds, up to three per display size and language, and up to 500 MB. Current iPhones use 886 × 1920 (portrait) or 1920 × 886, iPads 1200 × 1600 or 1600 × 1200, and Mac and Apple TV 1920 × 1080, in .mov, .m4v or .mp4.
