What is removed
Each line loses leading and trailing spaces, and repeated spaces or tabs inside a line become one space. Blank lines are dropped only when that option is on.
Line breaks that separate real lines stay. The tool does not reflow paragraphs into one line.

Questions
Will it join paragraphs?
No. It cleans each line and, if you ask, removes lines that are empty after trimming.
What about non-breaking spaces?
Only regular spaces and tabs are collapsed. Unusual space characters may remain.
