How to use it

  1. Paste or type the text.
  2. Read the counts under the box.
  3. Keep editing. The counts follow the text.

What gets counted

Words are the groups between spaces and line breaks. One character count includes spaces, and another leaves them out. Sentences are splits on a period, question mark or exclamation mark.

Reading time divides the word count by 200. A short note shows as under a minute. The page does not check grammar.

Only the text in the box is counted. Leave the title out if you do not want it included.

Why are there two character counts?

One includes spaces and line breaks. The other counts only the characters that are not whitespace.

Is the text stored?

No. It is not uploaded, and it is gone when you close the tab.
