Type a hex color or move the RGB or HSL numbers. The swatch and the other fields update together.

How to use it

  1. Type a hex color such as #0a84a8, or set R, G and B.
  2. Or set hue, saturation and lightness.
  3. Copy the notation you need from the field.

How the fields stay in step

Editing one notation rewrites the others. Hex accepts six digits, with or without a hash. Saturation and lightness are percentages. Hue is degrees from 0 to 360.

The conversion is standard sRGB. It does not simulate print profiles or a named CSS color such as rebeccapurple unless you look up its hex first.

Questions

Why did HSL shift when I typed RGB?

Rounding to whole degrees and percentages can move the color by less than one displayed step.

Can I enter an 8-digit hex with alpha?

No. This page is for opaque colors.

Does the swatch match my monitor?

It uses the browser's sRGB drawing, the same as a CSS hex color.
