How to use it
- Enter the text color as hex.
- Enter the background as hex.
- Read the ratio and whether it meets AA.
The thresholds
The ratio uses the WCAG relative-luminance formula. Normal text aims for at least 4.5:1 for AA and 7:1 for AAA. Large text aims for at least 3:1 for AA. The status line says “AA”, “AA large” and whether the pair reaches AAA.
A fail does not mean the color is illegal. It means the pair is below that written threshold. Thin fonts and small sizes need the higher bar.

Questions
What counts as large text?
WCAG treats 18 point text, or 14 point bold, as large. The page reports both thresholds so you can choose.
Does it check a whole page?
No. It checks the two colors you type.
Why is white on white a low ratio?
The ratio is 1:1 when the colors match. Body text wants 4.5:1 or more.
