How to use it

  1. Enter your current percent.
  2. Enter the weight of that work and the weight of the final.
  3. Enter the overall percent you want.

The formula

Needed = (target × (weight so far + final weight) − current × weight so far) ÷ final weight. If the weights are 70 and 30, they sum to 100 and this is the usual weighted average. If they do not sum to 100, the page still uses the weights you typed.

A result above 100 means the target is out of reach if the final cannot exceed 100. A negative result means the target is already met even with a zero.

Questions

What if the final is 40% and the coursework is 60%?

Put 60 as the weight so far and 40 as the final weight.

Does it include extra credit?

Only if that credit is already inside the current percent you typed.

Why is the result over 100?

The target is higher than the remaining points can deliver.
