Trim video

Set where a clip should start and where it should end, then save that span as an MP4. The handles, the time fields and the preview stay in step.

How to use it

  1. Open the video and play it to find the part you want.
  2. Drag the start and end handles, or type the times.
  3. Press Save the clip and download the MP4.

Exact times and a copied stream

The page keeps the original video and sound when the cut sits within a few seconds of a keyframe, which is fast and keeps the quality. When the keyframe is further away, the browser re-encodes so the file starts and ends on the times you set.

Type times as seconds, or as minutes and seconds, such as 1:05.5. The length under the fields is the part you will save. Rotation from a phone is kept. The saved clip is one continuous span, from the start handle to the end handle. Browser support for this page was checked on 27 October 2026.

Questions

How close is the cut to the times I set?

When a keyframe is nearby, the original stream is copied and the clip starts on your time. When the keyframe is further away, the page re-encodes so the saved file matches the times.

What format is the download?

An MP4. Copied tracks keep their original codecs. A re-encoded clip is H.264 with AAC or Opus sound, whichever this browser encodes.

Can the handles and the numbers disagree?

They stay together. Typing a time moves the handle, and dragging a handle fills the time field.

Which browsers trim video?

Chrome, Edge and Safari on a computer or a phone, and Firefox on a computer, re-encode when a cut needs it. A copied stream also finishes in a browser that can read the file.
