Camera, microphone and the saved file

The preview can mirror so it feels like looking in a mirror, and the saved video keeps the camera's real direction. A level meter moves while the microphone hears you, and you can record the picture with the microphone switched off in the form.

The page saves MP4 when this browser records MP4, and WebM when it records WebM. The download button names the format. Both open in current browsers and in VLC. A short take is easier to message or email. Browser support for this page was checked on 27 October 2026.

Questions

Why does the browser ask for the camera and microphone?

The page needs them to record you. Switch the microphone off in the form to record the picture alone. The browser remembers the permission you give this site.

Why is the preview mirrored?

Mirroring makes the preview feel like a mirror while you look at yourself. The downloaded video keeps the camera's real direction.

Which file do I get?

The page picks MP4 when the browser records it, and WebM otherwise. Safari records MP4. Chrome, Edge and Firefox record WebM, and current Chrome and Edge also record MP4 when they offer it. The button names the format.

Can I record on a phone?

Yes. Open the page on the phone, allow the camera and pick the front or back camera. Keep the page in front while it records.
