The formula and the bands
Metric BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. Imperial converts pounds and inches to those units first. The bands are the WHO adult cut points: under 18.5, 18.5 to 24.9, 25 to 29.9, and 30 or more.
The bands are for adults. They are a poor description for children, athletes and people with a high muscle mass. The page does not estimate body fat.
