How to use it
- Enter the original and the new servings.
- Paste ingredients, one per line, amount first.
- Copy the scaled lines.
Which amounts change
The number at the start of each line is multiplied by new servings ÷ original servings. A whole number, a decimal, a fraction such as 1/2, and a mixed number such as 1 1/2 are recognised. Words after the amount are left as they are, so “2 cups flour” becomes a new number plus “cups flour”.
Lines that do not start with a number, such as “salt to taste”, are unchanged. The page does not convert cups to grams. The units converter and the cups-to-grams tool do that.

Questions
Why did 1/2 become a decimal?
The scaled value is a decimal when it is not a whole number, rounded to three places.
Can I scale to half?
Yes. Set the new servings to half the original, or any other positive number.
Does it change the oven temperature?
No. Only a leading amount on each line is scaled.
