How to use it

  1. Measure the floor length and width, and the wall height.
  2. Count doors and windows.
  3. Set coats and the coverage on the tin.

What area is included

Wall area is the perimeter times the height: 2 × (length + width) × height. Each door subtracts 1.9 m² and each window subtracts 1.5 m². Those are typical openings, not your exact frames. The ceiling and the floor are not included. Litres are the area times coats, divided by coverage.

If the tin quotes a different coverage, use that number. A textured wall often needs more paint than the tin's smooth-wall figure.

Questions

Does it include the ceiling?

No. It is the four walls only.

What if a door is double width?

Count it as two doors, or accept that 1.9 m² is a single-door allowance.

Which coverage should I type?

Use the figure on the tin. 10 m² per litre is only the default.
