How to change your font on Instagram
- Type your text above. Every style updates as you type.
- Tap Copy next to the style you like.
- In Instagram, go to Edit profile and paste into Name or Bio, or paste into a caption, comment or story text.
- It also works in TikTok, X, Threads, Facebook, WhatsApp and Discord, because the result is plain text, not an image.
How these fonts work
Instagram has no font menu for bios. These styles are made from Unicode characters: the bold 𝐀, script 𝒜 and double-struck 𝔸 letters were added to Unicode for mathematics, and circled, squared and fullwidth letters for other scripts. Because they are real characters, they paste anywhere and survive copying. Accents and non-Latin letters have no styled versions, so they stay as they are.
Use them wisely
- Search: Instagram search does not match styled letters to normal ones, so keep your real name in the Name field in plain text if you want people to find you.
- Screen readers read many styled letters one by one or as maths symbols. Use them for a word or two, not whole captions.
- Display: newer styles such as squared letters may show as boxes on old Android phones. Check on another device.
- Pair a styled headline with plain text and up to five focused hashtags; check the length with the caption counter.
Questions
How do I get different fonts in my Instagram bio?
Type your text here, copy a style and paste it into Edit profile › Bio. The styles are Unicode characters, so Instagram shows them as text.
Are these fonts safe to use?
Yes. They are standard Unicode characters. Use them sparingly, because screen readers and search treat them differently from normal letters.
Why do some letters not change?
Unicode only has styled versions of basic Latin letters and digits, so accented letters, emoji and other scripts stay as they are.
Why do I see boxes instead of letters?
The device lacks a font with those characters, which happens on some older phones. Pick a more common style such as bold or script.
Is my text saved?
No. The conversion runs in your browser.
