About these tools

The keyboard test lights up each key as you press it, so a dead or sticky key stands out at once. It shows the key name, the code the browser receives and how many keys register at the same time, which tells you the rollover of a gaming keyboard.

The mouse test counts every button, the scroll wheel and the side buttons, and it watches for the fault people search for most: a single click that arrives as a double-click. The click speed test measures clicks per second over 1 to 60 seconds and keeps your best score for each length on this device.

The gamepad tester reads Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro and most USB or Bluetooth controllers through the browser's Gamepad API. It draws the sticks and triggers live, shows every button and axis value, and flags stick drift when a stick at rest sits away from the centre.

The webcam test shows a live preview, the real resolution and frame rate the camera delivers, and lets you switch cameras and take a snapshot. The typing test measures words per minute and accuracy on passages from classic books in the public domain.

The screen recorder captures a screen, a window or a browser tab with your microphone, and saves the video straight to your device. It works in desktop Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.

The microphone, speaker and phone checks from the audio and developer pages are listed here too, so a full set of device checks sits in one place.

Questions

Do these tests send anything from my device?

Everything runs inside the page. Key presses, clicks, camera frames and recordings stay on your device, and a recording is saved only when you press Download.

Why do some keys not light up in the keyboard test?

Keys such as Fn, and some media and system shortcuts, are handled by the keyboard or the operating system before the browser sees them. Every other key appears on the layout as you press it.

How do I know if my mouse double-clicks by itself?

Click the left button slowly, once at a time. If the test counts a double-click or reports two clicks a few milliseconds apart, the switch is worn and is sending extra clicks.

Why does the gamepad tester say no controller is connected?

Browsers show a controller only after you press a button on it while the page is open. Connect it by USB or Bluetooth, then press any button.
